The Battle for the Olympia - 1999
Running time: 110 minutes
The Road to the Olympia '99 seems wider than ever. Was Ronnie Coleman's win a year earlier a fluke? Some of his competitors think so. Watch the 265 pound Coleman push it to the limit as he goes mano-a-mano with the heavy iron in the relative obscurity at MetroFlex Gym in his hometown of Arlington Texas. Meanwhile, some 1500 miles away, Flex Wheeler and Chris Cormier are going set for set, rep for rep, as onlookers at the famous Gold's Gym Venice gaze in amazement.
Wheeler was the favorite a year ago and promises to knock the champ out this season. Just down the street, mighty Lee Priest trains quietly at World Gym and Lee along with his 22 inch guns will be firing away in Las Vegas come Olympia time. Nasser El Sonbaty and Jean Pierre Fux combine nearly 600 pounds between them and you'll get a look at them banging back and triceps at Club Met-Rx in Costa Mesa, California. Speaking of huge, catch German sensation and fan favorite Markus Ruhl, all 280 pounds of him, on display at Gold's in Vegas.
This 110 minute video includes training clips and interviews with:
Lee Priest, Chris Cormier, Flex Wheeler, Jay Cutler, Shawn Ray, Milos Sarcev, Ronnie Coleman, Nasser El Sonbaty, Jean-Pierre Fux, Markus Ruhl
